The NRA supports guns in the hands of the insane. That's just a fact. They support it by resisting attempts to do psychiatric background checks on buyers. And I think we all know why, because like McVeigh was an NRA member, the dirty secret there is that the NRA has a lot of kooks and nutballs in its membership, maybe hundreds of thousands of them, including you, it sounds like. "Just shut up about guns", you whine. Why shut up? Guns are killing people thanks to the NRA's super lax rules. Killing our kids. And you guys don't give a damn. So YOU shut up. You NRA types had your chance to be responsible adults and citizens and you blew it. Just like Bush blew it in Iraq and with our trust.
