Dizzy, I remember the hysteria when I was 6 (1943), 7 (1944) and 8 (1945). Air Raid Wardens with flash lights standing on the street corners in Minneapolis. Where were the damn planes supposed to be coming from? Patriotic parades through the halls of the elementary school to sell savings stamps and savings bond. On the week ends, we went to movies which were nothing by propaganda. The papers referred to Japanese as Japs in headlines. Yes, I remember all of that.
