I am glad you brought up Rosie, because I had the same thought watching the news pictures... LOOK AT ALL THAT MELTED STEEL!
The media seemed so surprised at the extent of the damage. I even looked up fuel capacity. It seems that the tanker was carrying 8+000 and the Boeing 797 around 10K.

A quote from a news story on the tanker:
Mr. Kempton said the heat from the fireball had most likely melted the steel girders and bolts that supported the concrete roadway. “If you have that kind of heat,” he said, “you’re going to have this kind of reaction. We’re not surprised by this result.”

I suppose the conspiracy theorists will have an explanation though.
