We actually may agree on this one. Regardless of what we thought about the war early on (and you have been more right than i, though i question some of your reasoning), i think it has become clear that the US is not a meddler in a foreign civil war. The fact that we try not to take sides makes it even worse. Remember my words on Israel and Pal about the Pals never being clear about their being defeated in 47 and 67? Same applies here. With our unbiased meddling we get emnity from both sides while making sure there cant be a clear outcome. I dont know for sure what happens when we pull out, but i think the sunni tribal leaders, former baathista and thugs are the furthest thing from islamic fundamentalists and WILL attempt to take care of the foreign fighters asap. What i am not sure about is whether al quaeda has somehow prepared for this and we will be surprised on the downside.
