Fair statement X. What i dont get is how you "protect as many people as possible" by not going to extraordinary means in extraordinary situations. I think by saying " protect as many people as possible" you are talking about the terrorists or folks who might be wrongly charged as such and possibly mistreated. What you have left out is the protection of innocents like your kids who are the potential victims in the scenario we are discussing. Let me give you another case. Those two shooters in the DC area who killed 10-15 people. The rules are set up to protect their rights but who protects the victims and potential vics? What if a cop made what later was determined to be an illegal stop and thus captured those two early on---would you be out there waving the constitution and trying to get those two released? Would you be doing a Sharpton and demanding the cop be fired? At least address my concerns. I argue hard and often with ACLU types. Not all are as vapid as you seem to be.
