I'm up nearly 40% on the year and raised a lot of cash today. No sense in letting emotion get the best of me and try to get greedy here while the market is indecisive. If the market breaks out to new highs, I'll break with it. If it wants to head lower, I'll increase the shorts.

CC, Good job on your gains. No, I doubt I beat the street. I have been distracted by a host of other issues and haven't been long or short many positions for most of the year. I got trashed on STR and VLO and those losses negated a large part of my gains. Like IMO, big earnings report.......it is sold. CMI......beat earnings.....zoom to the moon. I can't figure out when they are selling the news......or buying the news. Of course, everyone says, "sell the news," ..........unless they are buying it. The problem with conventional wisdom is its contradictory nature. There seem to be no long-lasting or permanent winners in the patch. Three forward.....four backward. VLO needs to increase the divy to $9.00/yr/shr. If they did, the stock price would double. But, NO, they buy back shares. No effect except the ink on the PR statement. PE will remain stuck at 7 or less. No emotion........because there is No hope.
