Who is being smug? I'm trying to explain to you that state sponsored torture is never acceptable. If it were, that state is not worth having.

If the state cannot find a better way to accomplish its ends, it is a state not worth having. Why can you not see that?

You want to take a country of 300 million people and hold its future hostage because of the actions of a handful of people. THAT is supporting terrorism. THAT is exactly what terrorists want from you. THAT will create more terrorism in the future.

OBL, with $250K and a handful of easily influenced fanatics, created massive hysteria in 300 million people with the help of hysterical soccer moms imagining a terrorist in every cubbyhole. THAT is exactly what he wants. THAT gives him a win.

Terrorists are banking on that kind of hysterical reaction. That is why they are 'terrorists' because they create terror. If people refuse to be terrified then the terrorists lose and they will find something else to do.

You are much more likely to be hurt or killed by someone who knows you very well...a family member, a friend or a colleague. Your child is much more likely to be hurt, abused or abducted by a parent or someone close to them than by a complete stranger.

Actually, high fructose corn syrup is much more likely to hurt your child than any person. If you really want to solve real problems then you have to concentrate on the real problems.
