"But then I'm more of a libertarian. I want the government out of my life on ALL things. I like all freedoms - not just those picked out by the right........or left."

Agreed. I'm a fellow Libertarian.

Sigh. I don't want to get into an argument about how the NRA runs the organization. I have plenty of complaints on that score myself. But having only Life Members able to vote for the leadership of the organization isn't one of those complaints.

You keep referring to your local politicians and candidates. I can't comment. Overall, though, the Dems are more anti gun than the Repubs. Not all on either side and not always. If you don't like the way the NRA endorses particular candidates, talk to your local NRA reps! Find out why they did what they did. The national organization isn't going to be particularly well versed in local politics, so it is the local folks that are pulling the strings, and they're the ones you need to talk to. But it is the national folks who will be doing the most for us gun owners -- by not being a member because of local issues, you're doing more damage to us all. I'd sincerely encourage you to get to know some of your local people and try to work things out. You can do a lot more from the inside than you can by being mad and not participating.
