He's ventured in to the Country scene lately, although I doubt the kids will go that way.

You might be surprised and actually like some of what they sing tonight. He didn't get famous for nothing.

They were never hard rock, more pop rock like Journey or bands like them. Very commercial, bought a couple of their biggest hits from outside songwriters.

If they got to choose from hard rock in general, the kid who won Finland's Idol did great with a Scorpions' song, "Still Loving You," great song for anyone with the chops.

Power ballads are the way to go in Idol if you have to choose a rock song. There are a million to choose from, Guns n Roses' "Patience" would be killer for a good singer.
