Where's YOUR morality, buddy?

Good call. You are correct, I am so sickened by the mess of Iraq that the neocons got us into - and Wolfowitz was a big part of this - that perhaps my judgement is clouded.

Wolfowitz as a planner of the Iraq war, if you will remember, was one in the administration that told us the war would pay for itself. For this "understanding" of finances he was rewarded with becoming the head of the world bank. Virtually everything that Wolfowitz believed and told us about Iraq has turn out to be wrong. For this he was rewarded with the plum of becoming the head of the World Bank? As head, he rewarded his girlfriend with a nice fat tax free pay hike. If you can't see the wrong headed morality of this, then we disagree.

As to if Wolfowitz lied or not; "Wolfowitz Not Telling Truth, Says Melkert"

Wolfowitz quote;

Wolfowitz: A country that can really finance its own reconstruction
Mar. 27, 2003Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Defense Secretary
There’s a lot of money to pay for this that doesn’t have to be U.S. taxpayer money, and it starts with the assets of the Iraqi people…and on a rough recollection, the oil revenues of that country could bring between $50 and $100 billion over the course of the next two or three years…We’re dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon.” (more)

Elroy, it was this kind of talk that brought the American people into supporting the war in Iraq. We want to believe and trust in those who we hire to protect and represent us. The battle between Powell and Wolfowitz is well known. While it turns out Powell had the correct view, he was put out to pasture while Wolfowitz was rewarded.

If you have not read of the influence of Leo Strauss on those who attended the University of Chicago, those who collectively have been labeled as neocons, I suggest you do. This country will spend decades unwinding from the mistake made by this group.
