We need to get off oil, period. ... It's a dangerous, stinking business and it all needs to change. Shutting down the current energy industry would be incredibly disastrous for the country. Only an idiot would disagree. Let's start by doing what Germany and Brazil have been doing. They are both big success stories on cleaner energy useage. Did you know they both have an oil and gas industry? Producing all they can - my company even has an affiliate that drills in Germany. Brazil has Petrobras, one of the worlds largest 500 companies. 2M BOE per day - more than twice as big as COP. They operate all over the world - even drilling right here in the USA - did you know that?
