Searle, it might be plausible. No one can fart in ME without Israel knowing about it. Israel is the superpower in ME. They could not take out Hizbo? Did you see the destruction that Israel did in Lebanon? With all this destruction they did not get all hizbo cache of rockets. You have sit back and question if Hizbo decided to invade Israel, they could not be stopped. 33 days and missiles were falling on Israel. It is a bit far fetched that Israel did not know about the missiles hiding in caves.

Convert or die: Baghdad Christians flee :

According to the local Christian Peace Association (CPA), the fatwa, issued by extremists and distributed in every Christian neighbourhood, said that Christians can only stay in their homes if they convert to Islam.

Re: You are a master of rationalization. Israel shoots itself in the balls and you say they did it on purpose!

Yes, somehow, the Israelis botched it all on purpose.... The only positive outcome for Israel would have been another Lebanese civil war --an Iraqization of Lebanon, if you will, pitting Maronites against Shiites against Sunnis. That's what the Israeli overreaction (bombing the hell out of Lebanon's civil infrastructure) was supposed to bring about and THAT'S WHERE the Israeli ploy failed miserably!

Israel cunningly hoped to replicate what the US is doing in Iraq --playing off Iraqi minorities against each other-- but Lebanese proved smarter.... Christian Lebanese under General Michel Aoun(*)'s leadership didn't play ball with Israel --they didn't take on their Muslim brothers:

Anyway, as I said, the Israeli stratocrats have had, from the start, a longer view as well as a wider purpose, namely, the taming of Iran. And key to such a big enterprise is the nature of the Israeli leadership itself.... Ever since the departure of Israel's icon Ariel Sharon, Israeli stratocrats have been looking for another warlike leadership, preferably IDF veterans whose military expertise/record wouldn't be, couldn't be, questioned. And that's where the so-called Lebanese "fiasco" might prove useful: it'll help Israeli warmongers get rid of "civilian usurpers" Olmert, Peretz and co and replace them with no-nonsense generals who won't blink first against Iran....
