There are dozens of people who majored in the arts that you will never hear about, but who make livings in their fields.
And they meet my criterion, too. I have no dispute about that.

They are no more trades than engineering, which my own son, a BS in CS from the well-regarded engineering dept at Rice, agrees is just glorified technical school.
Is studying mathematics or physics just attending a glorified technical school?

Was Einstein just a glorified technician? Bertrand Russell? (In case you are unaware of it (and you most likely aren't) Russell was a world famous mathematician as well as a peace protestor. His 'Principia Mathematica' was to put all of mathematics on a solid logical foundation, a task Kurt Godel later showed was impossible.)

In fact, that would be higher on my preferred list of tax spending than war.
Will you still say that if you are forced to convert to Islam and wear a burka?
