They had the option of reducing the price below the auction clearing price. It is in their interest for the transaction to go well for everyone. They don't want to screw people who are also their customers, and they have further auctions to get away in the future. The price reduction and associated scaleback also provides for wider distribution helping entrench customer loyalty and creating a bigger happier market for the next equity release.

a friend i work with played the deal and scaled his bids up to mid-30s, but made the tactical error of not putting them at the $0.01 mark... 30.01, 31.01, etc. -- something i had thought of a few days ago, but neglected to mention to him. nonetheless, if it is any consolation, even if you put in larger orders above $30.01, it appears they scaled back the allocation -- perhaps only allowing 15-20% of the offering to wind up in retail hands. couldn't have been more ideal environment to bring a company like this public.

I received 100 shares. Bid 200 shares for 29$ through Etrade, allocation 0 of course and 200 shares through IB for 31$.

Interesting that IB allowed changes when Etrade was frozen. I was attempting to up my bid in Etrade after reading about the good vibes. Clearing price for this offering was 33$, which is what they could have sold the shares for if they wanted. I think that the least we are going to see tomorrow.
