Several of those people had said really good things about Kerry's service until he ran for president. I'll try to dig up a link to the piece I mentioned that directly refutes each person.

Yes and no. Do remember that the woman who would've been responsible for composing such a memo in Abiline said that she did compose such a memo, that just wasn't the exact one. So something's really fishy. Either someone on the left was overzealous and made something up, someone on Dan Rather's staff made something up for a story, or someone on the right was screwing with Dan Rather. The facts seem true, the memo was false.
