You sound like my wife. She has to wear all her rings on one hand so she can tell right from left.

You set your number while lying on the bed. Each side can be set individually for Queen size and Kings.

We have a queen. The king size has wider airbladders, which is actually better.

I have no idea. My bed only has one gauge because I'm the only sleeper. The instructions I got when it was new said about once a month inflate the mattress to the full, 100 setting and let it back down to your sleep number at bed time. You could inflate just one of the gauges to 100 and easily determine which was which. Give that a try, it'll work, then you'll know. My sleep number is 60, but I occasionally go up to 65 for a night or two.
