You are sharp VT! In and anecdotal way I hear just what you are saying though. Sometimes I have wanted a stock bad. Then I start buying on emotions. At times you get fed all that you want to buy and when that happens I have seen my stock crater after that if the market does not make you chase it when you buy.

valuetrade et al "Trade Like Jesse Livermore" by Richard Smitten..

Those interested in a fully factual biography about Jesse would be interested in the above title. It's a great read about the man, his style, his family woes, particularly his second wife who shot his son, and his trading technique. I believe based on the book that Jesse was somewhat the manic depressive and it was the incident between his wife and son that led to a decline in his spirits and trading fortunes late in his life.

Smitten actually developed a fund using Livermore's trading techniques I'm not sure how it how it has done or it it still exists.

Your close, but actually if he was properly diagnosed today he would probably belong in the Bi-polar world, or as you have suggested the manic-depressive terminology from the '70's or chances are he would be identified as schizoaffective.

At any rate, any of the above diagnose would make trading very difficult on a day to day basis. So it is a testament to the man that he traded as well as he did.

A very good movie to watch is the Russel Crowe movie "A Beautiful Mind" which kind've of shows the difficulties one may have in trading or just plain living in the world that he inhabited.

Trust me I know what it is like.

I have also been diagnosed with Schizo-affective disorder.

When I think back it explains somewhat some of my truly brilliant trades & others that are best forgotten & my truly forgettable rampages on SI @ the turn of the last century.

That explains in part the majority of ignores that happened during 911 & shortly after.<ng>

I find it very difficult to control the disease...

Hi vt.

I respect your opinions alot. I have followed you since the Strictly Drilling 2 thread. Which is a long, long time ago.

I have started a new thread for people like me who are bi-polar, schizo-affective or suffer from schizophrenia.

It is my opinion that people like me need support in their trading enviroment.

All FWIW only,
