Actually Saddam and Al Qaida never took any action against the other. Saddam's agents met with AQ a number of time. AQ was given $300K at one point. AQ and Saddam both opposed UN sanctions against Iraq and AQ cited them as a reason for OBL's fatwa calling on Muslims everywhere to kill Americans.
