thanks a lot for that info. the letter is very instructive. apparently i have had it all wrong since i always assumed a sale was OK, as long as you let the proceeds settle before using them again. the violation-on-sale strikes me as illogical. in any case, if i want to sell a stock i am not going to let a silly violation get in the way -g-.

that means i will probably always be getting violations, so multiple borkers is the ticket. with the money spread among several borkers, it's like a farmer having multiple fields where he can let one or two go fallow -g-.
