I was forced to attend church with my parents until I was about 14, when I began skipping "sunday school", and would show back up to get a ride home. Neither of my parents were actual Christians. But, as a consequence, all know all the Christian dogma, having had lessons from the age of five to the age of 14.

My dad told me that he went to keep mom happy. He told me he thought Jesus was a great teacher, but NOT the Son o' God. He was an agnostic, as I am. He often went to sleep during the Sunday sermon, and would on occasion begin snoring loudly, embarrassing the hell out of my mom, who'd wake him in a pissed off manner.

My mom went to "keep up appearances" and because she LOVED the social network of the church. It was like attending a big social club once a week, where she could get all the latest gossip from the women of the entire community. She also liked dressing up, and that her entire family would be dressed up also, like a bunch of dolls.
