Moron! There have been surges in the past. And they have all failed. This one will fail too - and fail miserably.

August or September, they keep saying. August or September is when we'll know if this is working, the magic deadline for when the GOP Congress jumps the bad ship "Mission Accomplished" if the Iraqi government hasn't stepped up. And how, pray tell, is the Iraqi government expected to step up by September when they're on vacation in July and August?

This elaborate set up for September is nothing more than another FU. Bush and the Republicans in Congress are counting on the fact that until now, no one besides the blogs has really paid attention to the fact that the corner is always just a few more months away. No one, that is, but the blogs and the troops and their families. In September, I predict we'll hear "the surge has just reached the point where it's starting to pay dividends, and another three months will let us know if it's worked." Meanwhile, more troops will have been deployed in Iraq for too long, more sick and injured troops will be sent back. Any many more families back home will get the news they've been dreading all these long years.
