Interesting to see GOP leaders like Trent Lott putting restrictions on the timeline for violence in Baghdad. Maybe these guys just don't get it, we are helping the police maintain order in Iraq to prevent the government from collapsing. If we walk away from Iraq or Afghnistan, al quaeda and the taliban will be free to kill as many police officers as they want. Iran will step up their arms program in Iraq, and the whole Muslim world will be at risk. The US soldiers on the ground know the importance of the mission. I think Congress is overstepping their constitutional check and balance by trying to influence the executive branch in the global effort to fight terrorists. They are the ones that are completely out of line with the Constitution.
