Traditional grab has been a recent trend due to violent attacks. As democracy takes hold, even in Islamic form, women will botain a greater voice in their destiny. The Iraqi women decided to favor Islamic laws as part of their Constiution even though the hijab seems to violate their freedoms. Bottom line, they have much bigger problems that the hijab. Someone had an interesting article the other day saying that women in the ME were refusing to get pregnant. I never would have trusted the civil rights movement in this country to go very far unless we had preserved respect and protection for the minorities, even when it when against our own interests. The same is not true for Islamic countries where there is no religious diversity or respect for minorities. Sunnis slaughter Shiites and vice versa. Everyone seems to hate the Kurds, especially the Turks. The balance of power is only beginning to be developed in this part of the world. Israel is holding on for it's dear life and it's only 50 years old. Meanwhile, Iran is hosting Holocaust cartoon contests. I enjoy Rice and Cheney going over to the ME to try to talk to all of our allies. Who cares if Iran foreign minister walks out of State dinners where Rice is in attendance? At least we are in front of their faces. We must show the ME that we have a right to exist in their part of the world. They cannot be allowed to tell us that we do not have a place in their Supra Muslim universe. We are buying most of their damned oil reseves. If we don't stand tall and look these guys in the eyes, they are going to keep shitting all over us and telling us that we are a bunch of racists. They know that is our number 1 soft spot. God forbid that someone make a politically incorrect comment. When it comes to survival, I'm willing to roll up my sleeves and say what's on my mind. It's such a shame that terrorism has restored the whole chain reaction for the global arms race.
