Calling french fries liberty fries is total bs. This was the rightwing's (I think it was even a rightwing Dem who later apologized) answer to France's ability to see through the pack of lies of the Bush administration. Even their rightwing president didn't buy it....or knew the public wouldn't. The French didn't vote for Bush, they voted the economy. If the US voted the economy, we would try to get Clinton/Gore back. This time, though, we'd pay more attention to NAFTA, the Telecomm bill and other nonsense.
