You don't need the Koran to have a jihad. I think the problem is beyond religion. Religion just provides a good marketing tool.

I mean Jews and Christians have the same tools in their books- and sometimes they believe them. But they don't believe them because of the religion, they are pushed by extrenal factors to use the religion, and if they weren't using that, they'd create some paradigm that served the same purpose.

LE 26:7-8 The Lord promises the Israelites that, if they are obedient, their enemies will "fall before your sword."

NU 15:32-36 A Sabbath breaker (who had gathered sticks for a fire) is stoned to death at the Lord's command.

DT 7:2 The Lord commands the Israelites to "utterly destroy" and shown "no mercy" to those whom he gives them for defeat.

DT 20:16 "In the cities of the nations the Lord is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes."

Seems to me most religions have problematic passages that exhort followers to kill loads of "non-believers". Most of the time people ignore these rather primitive passages, but historical events can make them more attractive to extremists. That's the only problem we have today with Jihadis. We need to change the world so that the attraction of these passages is lessened. Trying to stomp out such religious fervor by force is rarely successful, since it is partly engendered by the atmosphere of persecution.

A colleague of mine at work today told me about a Syrian friend of his. The Syrian was approached by this "recruiter" who wanted him to go to Iraq and participate in the "jihad". The Syrian replied that he wages his "jihad against evil" in his personal life, and tries to make things better in the environment that directly confronts him every day. The "recruiter" told the Syrian that his version of "jihad" sounds almost Christian.

Evidently the Syrian says the recruiter is always around a certain mosque, and is actively trying to get people to head of to Iraq to participate in the "jihad". I told my colleague he should definitely try to get the Syrian to report the "recruiter" to the local authorities.

Pretty scary stuff to hear when it's nearly on your doorstep!

Nonsense, you are a rabid islamo-phobic, fear mongering bigot. What are afraid of? Is it true that you are a welfare queen? You sponge from the government and you do not give back. I still say you lack intelligence.
I'm not going to debate you any more as you and Geode are quite irrational, bigoted and racist.
are you calling the kettle black? ROFLMAO You demonstrate clearly the little intelligence that you possess.
Your casual violent threats are no doubt illegal.
ROFLMAO, Maurice, congratulation, you have achieved the level of stupidity that no other human has ever achieved. From now on you will be called stupid Maurice.
