She laid into me calling me a pervert and a baby stealer. She wrote down my license plate and said she was calling the police. So I handed her a business card and said I can be found here.

You should have laid into her for leaving the kid alone in the car and said you were going to call Child Protective Services, or whatever they call it in your neck of the woods.
