RE:"If we pull out, then the Saudis, Iranians and Turks move in."

That's why we monitor via satellite and awacs. Iraq turns into one giant steel cage match.

I think the Saudis and Turks can be persuaded to stay out. If Iraq messes around then bomb their nuke plants. Just a thought.

I don't think Iraq is exporting a lot of oil yet so maybe only $100 a barrel oil.

$200 per barrel oil might be just a "blip" on the way to radicalization of Saudi Arabia and ALL OUT radicalization of Iran.
Russia and Venezuaela could become the economic SUPERPOWERS of the world, with all the "good" stuff that would entail.

All possible, no doubt. This was the worst policy decision in US history.

But what do we accomplish by staying? Do you really think that there is a light at the end of this tunnel? I personally think it can only get worse.

Listen; I've struggled with this. If, strictly looking forward, I could see some ray of hope, I would (reluctantly) say we should keep our troops there, dying at 100 a month. Becuase it likely will be a disaster when we leave. And a huge disaster for our country.

So tell me about how it's going to get better. I'll grasp at any ray of hope.

I'd rather we just took over Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Would that make you happy?
