This is the link that should have been posted: Message 23525845 Suppose Congress had given FDR to September 1943 to "show progress" by invading Europe. Who would have the European continent now? Might be the Nazis. Or it might be the Russians. I doubt we'd like the outcome either way. Assuming we had stayed free ourselves and could say so.
