Not during my lifetime. They had broken away from the religion before I was born. BTW, they weren't kidding me -- they were married by a rabbi in a Jewish synagogue, as I was. In fact, I was married in main Orthodox synagogue of Johannesburg by the chief rabbi -- and I have the documentation to prove it.

If your parents were not active in Judaism and they didn't raise you according to the tenets of Judaism, then how is it you consider yourself Jewish?

Certainly you're not asserting that you have "Jewish blood"?

If so, then it would be necessary for you to prove not only that your parents were Jewish, but their parents, and their parents, etc. all the way back thousands of years.

Can you trace your genealogy back 4,000 years to Abraham?

If not, and you claim not to adhere to Judaism, then on what basis are you considered Jewish?
