Heard a pundit opine that the entire point of these bills is to make rightwing Dems and really rightwing Republicans stand up and be counted by their constituencies. Every time a vote like this is taken, it makes the voting for this inane war more difficult.

Little by little we are shutting down this war because, heck, the other option is to add more people and resources to it and I do not see ANY group in the US clamoring to do so. If Republicans really want to continue this war then why aren't Republicans beating down the door of recruitment offices?

There are enough Republicans in the USA to take to the streets, sign up, sign up their children, invest tax breaks, plant victory gardens, buy armor and do so much more in order to back Bush in this war. Have there been any PRO WAR protest marches?

If Republicans really wanted to continue this war, they have the numbers to do so. They say one thing but they do another...mostly they go about their merry way and do nothing for this war.
