Hey, I'm not even going to TRY to sort it out.

You could be right. Methane is also known as "swamp gas" and sometimes spontaneously ignites over swamps, produces weird fingers of flame and light.

OTOH, the source of swamp gas is essentially the source of cow farts. :-) Bacteria work over the vegetation a cow eats braking it down into simple sugars the cow can metabolize. But THINK of the huge acreage devoted to raising cattle!

Contradicts what I said but has some interesting figures:

US is the largest producer; fossil fuel production is the lrgest source; livestock are teh 4th largest source.

NEW ZEALAND (!!!! Hear that, Maurice?) is the largeest producer on a per-capita basis!
