It's an insult because it describes someone who thinks in slogans and many of those slogans are wrong. "Ignorant and proud of it" comes to mind. But it's not a racist insult and it does pretty well describe the blissfully ignorant folks who brought us the KKK, anti-gayness, anti-intellectualness, anti-scienceness and anti-anything but usness. I stand by my statement. Not all southerners are red necks but the southern red necks are an essential part of the Bush/Republican base. By the way, what is it that makes them such ardent supporters of the Republicans in general and Bush in particular? Ed
