Yes, I just mentioned that to Bill. I would certainly want to know more about the Mormon allegience to this in the modern sense. I have no idea how Romney lives his faith, but it IS relevant. The Mormons seem to have (to me, from my exposure to them) two levels to them. On the surface, they seem very similar to CHristians, and they encourage that appearance. However, when in discussions with them, I find they have some rather unorthodox ideas that they aren't nearly as upfront about.
Since I think the trappings of religions are mythological in nature, it is those trappings and how they affect behavior that concern me, not the belief in God.

>>" That's what they said about the Pope in 1960, too. As I am sure you may remember. "<<

Yeah, but we American Catholics knew that was not true.

You want to tell us that the Mormons don't take their "religious?" guidance seriously from some unknown white guy in Utah who may still think blacks are subhuman, that you can baptize the dead and good Latter Day Saints will become gods and firmly believes that Joseph Smith found some precious plates in a field in upstate New York which related the history of some Israelites who boated over to the New World 600 years before Christ and mysteriously disappeared 400 years after his visit to them?

Yup, we have had 6+ years of a guy who gets his instructions (hopefully not through his hair dryer) from his god and so far we have been lucky that (I hope) his god has not whispered "nuke em" since "bring em on" didn't work.

Now unless this guy says that any instructions, and I mean ANY, from some unknown white guy in Utah are invalid, and that means he is excommunicated, he should get nowhere near complete control of this country's military might!
