Every political spectrum I've seen places Kerry right of center.

I don't believe you.

Of course you don't.......you've drunk so much of the koolaid, you wouldn't know the truth if it hit you in the face. You have some very smart people on this thread talking truth to you and you keep trying to spin your way out.

In any case, here are some political spectrum charts I pulled at random:

This chart is an international political chart. While they don't show John Kerry's name, he would be where Tony Blair is placed.

This is a chart comparing the US and French political systems and what part overlaps. Please note that the US is mostly right of center while France is centrist.

This chart is both political and economic......again it doesn't show John Kerry but he would be slightly left of Clinton but still right. Please note that some of the smartest people are left of center. ;-)

I know this flies in the face of what you've learned but what you've learned is wrong.

I don't think you have been so unexposed to American politics that that statement could possibly be true.

I've had way too much exposure to American politics and its seriously screwed up. The right has so muddied up the waters that most Americans think we are one step away from communism when in reality we are goosestepping to the Third Reich. Making matters worse the right has convinced way too many people that Hitler was a socialist. One a joke!

Now he may be left of the American center but the American center is solidly on the right.

On the right or left is in relation to something else. There is no permanent objective center. Since we're both in the US, and Kerry is an American politician it seems reasonable to evaluate him by American standards.

No. The standard is international.....the same conditions apply to all countries......the center doesn't travel back and forth.....however, countries do. Kerry is right of center and it pisses me off that we are that conservative. Its what got this country in the mess its in right now........too many conservative people voted for Bush........twice!
