Indeed, you told a nuanced lie when you said that Clinton fired 97 attorneys. In fact, as you well know, Clinton fired none. He replaced them when their terms ended, as all presidents do.

<<< Indeed, Presidents Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Reagan replaced the 93 U.S. attorneys at the beginning of their administration as part of the normal turnover involved in the alternation of power. A report issued on Feb. 22 from the Congressional Research Service revealed that between 1981 and 2006, only five of the 486 U.S. attorneys failed to finish their four-year terms, and none were fired for political reasons. Only three were fired for questionable behavior, including one on "accusations that he bit a topless dancer on the arm during a visit to an adult club after losing a big drug case." In brief, Bush's firings were unprecedented >>>

What is especially noteworthy about Clinton is how he handled the most controversial replacement. Clinton replaced the attorney who was investigating one of the most powerful Democrats in Congress (Rostenkowksi). He did not replace him with a Democratic operative, but with a man of integrity, who proceeded to bury Rostenkowksi in indictments.

Contrast that with the Karl Rove plan to fire (and occasionally murder) U.S. attorneys who were investigating Republicans and replace them with operatives who would halt the investigations.

Number of US soldiers killed in Iraq in May 2003 : 37
Number of US soldiers killed in Iraq in the first 12 days of May 2007 : 43

All credit should go to the Dumbyassholes. Without their "support" for the troops, this couldn't have happened.
