Just to be a contrarian and throw in my $0.02 from my seat of omniscience in the Washington burbs, I might say, 'only in Iraq could this happen.' Recall that while Saddam is gone, his vast oil smuggling infrastructure and organization is not. You have to figure that the same rogue crew of French, Syrian, Jordanian, Iranian, Turk, Russian, etc smugglers are no less available and willing on the receiving end.

Why let the new Iraqi or government American interests get a piece of the pie. How many times have you heard on American TV, 'buy direct and cut out the middle man.' After all, these are Middle Easterners - they invented trading.
