I'm disappointed you chose not to publicly explain how you think mixing smart kids will slow learners will make the smart kids even brighter.

The slow learners benefit by pairing them up with the smart kids...from the smart kid, they get teaching in addition to what the teacher is providing. The smart kids benefit by getting a better grasp of the materials being taught......after all, they have to understand the material well to be to help the slower kid. Plus, they learn empathy and understand the limitations that other children experience in school.

This method is also effective with two kids whose second language is English but where one kid is much more fluent than the other. The more fluent kid is able to give instructions to the less fluent kid in his/her native language.
