i think he would hurt rudy on cross over votes. Bringing new't into election brings back washington fighting. I doubt Rudy would pick him up on the ticket. Thompson would be like a winner imo. If Thompson is lazy and lacks a lot of interest vp would be a good place for him and draw conservatives and southern votes.

Yes. He has many interesting ideas. (I've long though that he was one of the more intelligent thinkers in American politics....)

Don't know about 'liberals' or 'conservatives' as a group... (but I'm pretty sure you can delete 'libertarians' from the premise of your question above. We are generally far better informed on geo-political issues and history then either of the other two groupings.... :-)
