Hey! My DSL is 1.5Mb, I thought you were desperate? lol
DSL here is about 1/2 Comcast. Comcast is 6meg max and DSL is 3, but I'm in the boonies getting 1.5M.

What I use to know was that broadband Internet was shared and as more users were downloading, the speed for each user would start dividing up.

My best guess would be to find a nerd at one of the techie stores and ask him what's available. Being Ft Lauderdale, I would hope you would have more available than DSL, Comcast, and satellite. If you know some kids in school, they will know what is available and who is the best.

Some Wimax is available: (you can surf from anywhere)

Lot of reading on google searching for Ft Lauderdale and Internet provider.
