There are limited amounts that can be invested through these schemes (and they can't short). You can't directly buy Chinese shares without going through one of these approved schemes with a fund manager. like you could buy HK shares yourself. I guess you could short this fund... though it's lagging the index:

finance.yahoo.com

The rise in the Yuan against the USD should cause a small opposite effect to that I think. Seems hard to get good info on this fund?
