I am Nick's dad. Around 1980 a close friend of mine worked for the good Rev. Falwell. Some people had blown up his powerful radio transmission tower located across the border in Mexico; it was so powerful it violated FCC rules, hence the Mexico location. Rev. Falwell started a fund raising drive to replace the transmission tower. Writing "copy" for the drive was my friend's responsibility; and in no time Falwell had collected more than enough to replace the tower; but Falwell kept the drive alive, lying that more funds were needed. He stopped it when enough funds to cover three new transmission towers were raised.

My friend told Falwell when funds were there to replace the one transmission tower but Falwell lied on the air saying that more funds were needed and my friend quit after a short time due to Falwell's lying on the air.

Falwell was basically ok with me also. I don't care for his views but he has a right to have them and came off as fairly compassionate. Some of the others are just maniacal nuts.

Liar. Falwell was not a good man, good christian or good American. He preached hatred vs. every minority group. He was not a true christian. He took the Lord's name in vain. He was all about personal power and fleecing his flock. Roberton and Dobson are just as bad or maybe worse, but just because Falwell is dead doesn't mean we have to respect him. He was not a good American. He was a disgrace actually. The entire religious right now needs to be exposed for what it is. A bunch of conmen and charlatans who badly harm this country.
