You'll have a hard time convincing me that driving a larger vehicle for safety concerns is mute.

i can assure you that driving a large car is never mute unless you are in a vacuum -g-. however, i agree with you that the point is not moot.

in some respects the SUV thingy is kind of like the gun thingy--it would be safer if no one drove an SUV and no one owned a gun. but since there are several hundred million guns and nearly as many SUVs in America, and they aren't going away, one needs to consider what is the safest way to exist in their midst. wrt cars, i would consider it dangerous to drive a small car, especially in Texas, where Suburbans are the more common than cow paddies.
