Some months ago I read that GM was going to make cars that run on E85. Who would be buying that type of cars? Even if the government is going force gas station to carry E85, how soon can the majority of them comply with the rule?

For one, the gas mileage using ethanol is less than gasoline, and by the time we get ethanol in the tank, the price of ethanol will be higher than gasoline (per Sue Herrera on CNBC yesterday morning). The reliability of E85 has not been proven and for one I will stick with my Lexus LS430.

The idea of ethanol from corn is so puzzling. Just because Brazil has ethanol to fuel the car, does not mean that it will be a success for the US. Corn is feedstock while sugar cane is not. Have you ever seen a chicken fed with sugar cane?
