The Moose's state (also mine) just passed a bill that outlaws cell phone use in a car unless using hands free technology. Goes into effect next year.

I have a Bluetooth phone, but the sound quality of the earpiece leaves something to be desired.

At any rate, as a motorcycle rider, I'm in favor of the legislation. Don't want to be pooned at an intersection by a 17 year old bimbo chatting on her phone.

My daughter is like that woman. She goes around talking to herself, but it's really her blue fang thingee.

I haven't learned to use mine yet.

Hi Naomi and All....I was looking at TracPhones (disposable or one can keep them and just add more minutes) but I still don't know what to do.

I called the number, talked to someone in India (I think), walked through the process including checking the major zip codes on the trip we're making in June.... On a C-0155 Motorola (?sp?) which is cheap when you buy it from the TracPhone co...all but two of the area codes work, Except one city in NY and neither does it work in Boston.

Then had to figure out what plan....service (which means actually having a phone number and a pin to use) and minutes/units to buy....

Dang near ordered everything on the phone with her, but the pin number on the back of my credit card was worn off (called the bank on my cell at the same time keeping India on the land line) and bank said they would have to order new cards....the pin is untouchable that way.

Sooooooooo, asked India where I could go in person and get a phone. Got 3 places, 2 of them nearby at grocery stores....BUT going to the two stores, found that one only had one phone (one of the Nokia's) and the other had 2 phones, neither what I wanted to get, and both were $24.95 and $39.95 respectively)...with no minute and service plan yet.

SOOOOOOoooo, at this minute, am back to square zero.

Don't want to mess up my current cell phone with changing the roaming, because that is super expensive, and want to keep my current plan because of the 1000 anytime minutes...

Maybe using my calling card with lots of minutes, and easy to add more with a flick of the credit card over the phone, will be the answer after all. IF I can find land lines someplace or in the hotels where we will be. Costco plan MCI is whatever you want to spend for how many minutes you want. I usually get about $20 or $25 worth at a time...so about 700-800 or so minutes.

Isn't technology wonderful? Does anyone have any other good suggestions before I decide what to do next Monday when I get back from the trip this weekend....??
