Well, you could try to go back or make the best of where and what you are, and what you want to be. You have one thing right with both Scotland and Wales, nobody wants to be a silly two-party, single-seat-FPTP system. Scotland and some of Wales want to, once again, to get rid of the inner city of London, even using and abusing chainsaws and donating free paddles. Some or most of those costs might be EU subsidized, according to the free markets and free wheeling willing willies. Do you think NZ might still become the new neo-liberal HongKong?? No accounting, and no nothing??
