I guess the key is that you have to separate the data that can be easily manipulated, and the data that are not easily manipulated<g>

like CPI, I heard that now 40% of the core CPI is on housing, knowing housing is in a dump, so artificially drag down CPI. I doubt they used this high percent 2-3 years ago when housing price was at all time high. So that means they are constantly reviewing the formula being used to calculate the CPI, this is what I meant by "manipulating"
