Did Christ pursue wealth? If I were to follow a leader of a religion, I'd at least want him to emulate the founder of the religion. For the followers, wealth may be acceptable, but for the leaders, especially when the SOURCE is the followers, it's repugnant and suspicious.

Now, if the leader was a Mammonite, who worshiped wealth, then of course the more wealth he had accumulated would show the power of his beliefs and his God. Most Americans ARE Mammonites, whatever they call themselves.
