ken i have know retired grandparents who relocated to be near their grandchildren.. works out for a few years as they are very small but once these kids are enrolled into various activities the idea of seeing granpa or nana goes out the window. A few folks i know finally realized they need to make their own life after retirement and moved to Florida where both love to play golf. they made arrangements for kids to join them for a few weeks in mid summer to take them to all the amusement parks etc. for a couple of years now i know two families where this seems to have worked. I wonder what happens when kids get older again and no longer want to spend two/three weeks each year in florida in the summer.

i am sure the kids love the gifts, and love gramps but their world is passing so fast they think they will miss something if they are not into everything. ha

Mine are right in the area if i see them every couple of months i feel lucky. gg
