In an expensive area like NY, he might gross over a million a year. Costs would take part of that out but I think the margins would be pretty good, the charge is probably several times what the employee plumbers are paid, and if you are getting enough pipes put in to make that a large expense, your going to be paying a bundle for the labor. Yeah I can believe it.

Of course that's more his income as a business owner, then from his own plumbing work, but still you have a point.

And even if you consider self employed plumbers with no employees under them, they would still do pretty well.

I remember thinking I'd picked the wrong career field after I had to pay for three plumbing jobs withing a few months. <g>
