I suppose it might be different in some degree fields. But, every prof. I know does their best to avoid politics. Of course, in computer engineering, there isn't a whole lot of room for politics.

Now there are some who are very public about their faith and vice versa. But that isn't, or shouldn't, be a political issue.

I think some of these wingers are stuck in a time warp. Every once in a while they pop up, foaming at the mouth about a liberal agenda on campuses and how it is crawling with profs. who are avowed communists. When challenged, they will put up an example or two and refer to one of their attack dogs who loudly proclaims it is true.
